CardioVisual is a multimedia interactive heart health app created by cardiologists for clinicians, patients, caregivers, healthcare systems, payors, and the community at large. Our digital app solution engages this ecosystem to take action in support of heart-healthy behaviors and improved health outcomes.
The CardioVisual (CV) app was designed by practicing cardiologists and clinicians with decades of experience managing patients with cardiovascular disease and related chronic diseases to address an unmet daily need in medicine- instant access to trusted & shareable information. The CV app delivers curated multimedia information on cardiovascular (and related co-morbidities) treatments, prevention, and technology to providers and consumers. It then serves as a digital knowledge “seed” that engages through mobile technology and validated educational content to help advance clinical care with dynamic digital engagement.
These trusted and globally available resources are critical as heart disease remains the number one killer of men and women globally. According to the American Heart Association, “Cardiovascular disease is the leading global cause of death, accounting for more than 17.6 million deaths/year in 2016, a number that is expected to grow to more than 23.6 million by 2030, according to a 2014 study”. Heart disease is also among the costliest for hospitals, according to a report by the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (H-CUP). Heart attack (AMI) and heart failure were among the 20 most expensive conditions.
We believe, to make a real clinical impact on these chronic conditions, there must be a thoughtful focus on engaging the patient throughout the entire cycle of care. An American Heart Association survey showed that though patients understand the link between poor health metrics and chronic disease, they often don’t know where or how to begin to manage their conditions. The internet, where consumers often seek health information, can be overwhelming to sift through the plethora of options, for example, a basic Google search of “heart failure”, yielded 336,000,000 results.
The CV app fills this trusted guidance gap with awareness, education, and real-time solutions. We have established collaboration with medical device, pharma and numerous content providers along with a network of clinician experts, cardiologists, and endocrinologists to curate and create comprehensive and digestible educational video content. The short video format was selected as research shows that people retain 80% of what they see. The engagement tools and algorithms we’ve designed in the app, help digitally guide the user to relevant information and trusted resources.
In essence, the CV app serves as a “Digital Clinical Navigator” illuminating the patient-centered journey through technology and trusted content, to improve heart-health outcomes globally.
For Patients, the CV app is a mobile tool that readily supports the entire patient journey by offering real-time resources that patients can incorporate into their daily routine at any juncture of illness or prevention opportunity.
The CV app ensures caregiver inclusion for improved outcomes. Medicare recently revised its discharge policies to require that caregivers were educated as part of the discharge process. The CV app empowers the caregiver role by minimizing the fear and anxiety of supporting a loved one during an illness.
For Clinicians, the CV app integrates seamlessly with EMR’s and patient portals or allows them to easily share simplified videos with patients and caregivers. A moderated clinician-only forum also helps them to learn and discuss new treatments and innovations.
Lastly, the CV app helps payors by serving as the digital value-based care navigator that improves patient outcomes by increasing knowledge of risk factors, promoting prevention, and expanding awareness of validated treatment options.
